Again the Israelites cried to the Lord , and he sent a man called Ehud to save them. Ehud’s stronger hand was his left hand. He was a son of Gera, of the tribe of Benjamin. He took taxes from Israel to Eglon, King of Moab.

When the Lord gave them a judge , the Lord helped the judge to save them from their enemies. They obeyed the Lord while the judge was alive. The Lord listened to their cries when other people made their lives difficult. But when the judge died, the people stopped serving the Lord . They became worse than their fathers. They served many false gods. They refused to stop doing all these bad things.

This is what I will do. I will not send the Canaanites out of the land. They will be your enemies. Their false gods will pull you away from me. They will cause you much pain’.

The Lord helped the people of Joseph ( tribes of Ephraim and Manasseh) to attack Bethel. (Bethel was called Luz at first.) Judges 1:22

After Joshua had died, the Israelites asked God for a new leader. They were fighting the Canaanites . They wanted to know who should fight the enemy. Judges 1:1

「The Lord will shout from Zion. He will make a great noise from Jerusalem. The earth and the sky will move about. But the Lord will keep his people safe.」

After that, I will pour out my Holy Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will be prophets . Your old men will dream and your young men will see pictures in their minds. (The Lord will send these to them.) Joel 2:28

Stop pulling your clothes to pieces. That does not help. Show me instead that you are really sorry.’ Return to the Lord , your God. He is kind and full of grace . He does not quickly become angry, and he is full of love. He is sad that he had to cause troubles for you.

Be afraid because of that day. Be afraid because the day of the Lord is near. It will be as if the great God would destroy everything.
