Then Jesus said, ‘When other people do wrong things against you, you must forgive them. Then God, your Father in heaven , will also forgive you for the wrong things that you have done. But if you do not forgive other people, then your Father will not forgive you.’ Matthew 6:14‭-‬15

What I tell you is this: You should love the people who want to hurt you. If people want to give you pain, pray for them. Pray that God would help them. If you live like this, you will show that you really are children of your Father above. God is kind to everyone. He causes the sun to shine on everyone, both good people and bad people. He also causes the rain to fall on everyone, people who obey him and people who do not obey him. Do you only love people who love you? God will not give you good things just for doing that. Even the men who take taxes love their friends! Matthew 5:44‭-‬46

But what I now say to you is this: Anybody who is angry with his brother will have to stand in front of a judge. Or someone might call his brother by a bad name. Then he will have to stand in front of the Jewish leaders. They will judge him. But someone may say to his brother, “You are a fool.” God will judge that person. God may punish him in the fires of hell . Maybe you go to God’s Great House to give your gift to God. You take it to the altar . But then you remember that your brother is angry with you. You must leave your gift there in front of God’s altar. First you must go and find your brother. Tell him that you are sorry. Then you can both become friends with each other again. After that, you can return to the altar and give your gift to God. Matthew 5:22‭-‬24

You must be sure that your light shines well. Then you will give light to other people. They will see all the good things that you do. Then they will praise God, who is your Father in heaven .’ Matthew 5:16

‘Happy are the people who know that they need God very much. The kingdom of heaven belongs to people like that. Happy are the people who are sad now. God will come near to help them. Happy are the people who are kind. The whole earth will belong to them. Happy are the people who want to obey God, as much as they want to eat food. God will give to them everything that they need. Happy are the people who help other people and who forgive them. God will forgive people like that. Happy are the people who have only good thoughts. They will come near to God and see him. Happy are the people who bring people together to be friends. God will call them his children. Happy are the people who do what is right but other people hurt them because of it. The kingdom of heaven belongs to people like that. Matthew 5:3‭-‬10

This caused God’s message to become true. Long ago God had said through his prophet Isaiah: ‘I am speaking to you people who live in Zebulun and Naphtali. Your part of this country is on the way to Lake Galilee. It is across the River Jordan in the part of the country called Galilee. Some people who are not Jews live there. They are like people who are living in the dark. They live in the shadow which death brings. God will send a light to shine on them.’ Matthew 4:14‭-‬16

這是要應驗先知以賽亞的話， 說：西布倫地， 拿弗他利地， 就是沿海的路， 約旦河外， 外邦人的加利利地－那坐在黑暗裏的百姓看見了大光； 坐在死蔭之地的人有光發現照着他們。 馬太福音 4:14‭-‬16

But Jesus replied, ‘No! The Bible says that food alone cannot cause people to live. They need to hear every word that God speaks. Then they can really live.’ ……Jesus replied, ‘No! The Bible also says, “Do not test the Lord God, to see if he will save you”.’ …..Jesus then said to him, ‘Satan, go away from me! The Bible says, “Only worship your Lord God. He is the only one that you should obey”.’ Matthew 4:4‭, ‬7‭, ‬10

He told people, ‘You have done many wrong things. You must turn away from them and change how you live. Do this now, because the kingdom of heaven has come very near.’ God’s prophet Isaiah spoke about this man John long ago. He said: ‘Somebody’s voice is shouting in the wilderness , “The Lord will come soon, so prepare a way for him to follow. Make the paths straight for him.” ’ Matthew 3:2‭-‬3

「天國近了，你們應當悔改！」 這人就是先知 以賽亞 所說的。他說：「在曠野有人聲喊着說： 預備主的道， 修直他的路！」 馬太福音 3:2‭-‬3

When the wise men did not return to Herod, he was very angry. He knew that they had deceived him. So he sent his men to Bethlehem. He said to them, ‘Kill all the baby boys in Bethlehem. Kill the boys who live near there too. Kill all the boys who are two years old or younger than that.’ The wise men had told Herod how long ago they had first seen the special star. So he decided to kill the baby boys of that age. In this way, these words that God’s prophet Jeremiah spoke long ago became true: ‘People heard a sad noise in Ramah. They heard someone weeping with a loud voice. It is Rachel and she is crying for her children. Nobody can help her to feel better, because her children are dead.’ ……So Joseph went there and he lived in a town called Nazareth. Long ago God’s prophets had said about God’s Messiah , ‘He will be called a person from Nazareth.’ Now this had become true. Matthew 2:16‭-‬18‭, ‬23

希律見自己被博士愚弄，就大大發怒，差人將伯利恆城裏並四境所有的男孩，照着他向博士仔細查問的時候，凡兩歲以裏的，都殺盡了。 這就應了先知耶利米的話，說：在拉瑪聽見號咷大哭的聲音，是拉結哭她兒女，不肯受安慰，因為他們都不在了。 …… 到了一座城，名叫拿撒勒，就住在那裏。這是要應驗先知所說，他將稱為拿撒勒人的話了。 馬太福音 2:16‭-‬18‭, ‬23

So Joseph got up and he took the child and his mother with him. They started on the journey to Egypt that night. They all remained in Egypt until Herod died. This happened so that the words of the prophet would become true. The Lord God had said by his prophet, ‘I have called my son to come out of Egypt.’ Matthew 2:14‭-‬15
