The Philistines ran after Saul and his sons. They killed his sons Jonathan, Abinadab and Malki-Shua. The Philistines fought very strongly against Saul. Their men with bows shot their arrows at Saul and they nearly killed him. Saul spoke to the officer who carried his armour. Saul said, ‘Kill me with your sword. I do not want those men that nobody has circumcised to make me ashamed. And I do not want them to kill me.’ The officer was afraid. He would not do it. So, Saul took his own sword and he fell on the sharp end. 1 Samuel 31:2‭-‬4

David replied, ‘No, my brothers. You cannot do that. The Lord has given all this to us. The Lord kept us safe. He helped us to win the fight. Nobody will agree with what you say. Each person will receive an equal part. Some men stayed with the tents. Some men were in the fight. But each person will receive the same amount.’ David made this rule into a law. The Israelites have obeyed this law ever since that day. 1 Samuel 30:23‭-‬25

David was very, very sad because his men wanted to throw stones at him. They wanted to kill him. His men were very angry because they had lost their sons and their daughters. But David believed that the Lord his God would help them. And so he became stronger. 1 Samuel 30:6

So Achish asked to meet David. He said, ‘I know that the Lord lives. And I know as certainly that you are my good friend. I would be happy to let you fight with me. Since the day that you came to me, I have never found anything wrong with you. But the other leaders do not want you to fight on my behalf. 1 Samuel 29:6

亞吉叫大衛來，對他說：「我指着永生的耶和華起誓，你是正直人。你隨我在軍中出入，我看你甚好。自從你投奔我到如今，我未曾見你有甚麼過失；只是眾首領不喜悅你。 撒母耳記上 29:6

The Lord has done this to you because you did not obey him. You did not show the Amalekites how the Lord was very angry with them. 1 Samuel 28:18

During that time David and his men attacked the tribes of the people called Geshurites, Girzites and Amalekites. These people had lived in that place for a very long time. Their land went down as far as Shur and the border of Egypt. When David attacked them, he killed all the men and women. But he took all their sheep, cows, donkeys, camels and their clothes. Then he returned to Achish. 1 Samuel 27:8‭-‬9

I know that the Lord himself will kill Saul. Saul will die either when his time has come or in a fight. The Lord anointed Saul. So I pray that the Lord will not let me hurt him. Take the spear and the pot of water that is near Saul’s head. Then we will leave.’ 1 Samuel 26:10‭-‬11

大衛又說：「我指着永生的耶和華起誓，他或被耶和華擊打，或是死期到了，或是出戰陣亡； 我在耶和華面前，萬不敢伸手害耶和華的受膏者。現在你可以將他頭旁的槍和水瓶拿來，我們就走。」 撒母耳記上 26:10‭-‬11

David heard the news that Nabal had died. He said, ‘I praise the Lord. Nabal said wrong things about me but the Lord saved me. The Lord did not let me do the wrong thing. And now he has punished Nabal.’
1 Samuel 25:39

I know that the Lord will always choose someone from your family to be the king. The Lord will do that because you always fight on his behalf. And you do not do anything in your life that is wrong.
1 Samuel 25:28

耶和華必為我主建立堅固的家，因我主為耶和華爭戰；並且在你平生的日子查不出有甚麼過來。 撒母耳記上 25:28下

Look, my father. I have a small piece of your coat. I cut this off the corner of your coat but I did not kill you. Please know that I have not sinned against you. I will not hurt you. I have not done anything wrong to you. But you are running after me so that you can kill me. The Lord will be the judge. He will know which one of us has done wrong things. And I ask that the Lord will punish you. I want him to punish you because you have done wrong things to me. But I will not do anything to hurt you. 1 Samuel 24:11‭-‬12

我父啊，看看你外袍的衣襟在我手中。我割下你的衣襟，沒有殺你；你由此可以知道我沒有惡意叛逆你。你雖然獵取我的命，我卻沒有得罪你。 願耶和華在你我中間判斷是非，在你身上為我伸冤，我卻不親手加害於你。
