The Lord is alive! He is my strong Rock! Everyone should praise him! He rules as king! He is the strong God who saves me. 2 Samuel 22:47

This is what he sang: ‘The Lord keeps me safe. He is my great rock and my strong place. My God is my high rock. I run to him to hide and be safe. He keeps me safe like a soldier’s shield. David took the bones of Saul and Jonathan and also the bones of the 7 men who had been hung. They buried the bones of Saul and Jonathan with those of Kish, Saul’s father, in Zela in Benjamin’s land. The king had told them what they should do. And they did it all. Then God answered their prayers for their country. 2 Samuel 21:13‭-‬14

For three years together no food grew in Israel. So David asked the Lord what had caused this trouble. The Lord said, ‘It is because of the blood of the Gibeonites. Saul killed many of them.’ The king asked the Gibeonites to come to him. (The Gibeonites were not Israel’s people. They were Amorites, but the Israelites had promised not to kill them. Saul had tried to kill them all. He thought that this would be good for Israel and Judah.) 2 Samuel 21:1‭-‬2

Then she said, ‘A long time ago, people said, “Get your answer at the city called Abel.” And that is what they did. We are a peaceful city that is faithful to Israel. Do you want to destroy such an important city? Why do you want to destroy a city that belongs to the Lord?’ 2 Samuel 20:18‭-‬19

Then Joab went into the king’s house. He spoke to the king. ‘Today you have made your men ashamed. But they have saved your life and the lives of your sons, daughters and lady friends. You seem to love those who hate you. And you seem to hate those who love you! You have shown today that your officers and soldiers are not important to you. You would be happy if Absalom were still alive. You would be happy even if all of us were dead. Now go out and speak to the men. Tell them that they have fought well. If you do not do that, not one man will remain here tonight. It is as sure as the Lord is alive. That would be worse than anything that has happened to you in all your life.’ 2 Samuel 19:5‭-‬7

約押進去見王，說：「你今日使你一切僕人臉面慚愧了！他們今日救了你的性命和你兒女妻妾的性命， 你卻愛那恨你的人，恨那愛你的人。你今日明明地不以將帥、僕人為念。我今日看明，若押沙龍活着，我們都死亡，你就喜悅了。 現在你當出去，安慰你僕人的心。我指着耶和華起誓：你若不出去，今夜必無一人與你同在一處；這禍患就比你從幼年到如今所遭的更甚！」 撒母耳記下 19:5‭-‬7

Zadok’s son Ahimaaz spoke to Joab. ‘Let me run to give the king the news that the Lord has saved him from his enemies,’ he said. Joab said, ‘You must not take any good news today. You can take it another day, but not today. The king’s son is dead.’ 2 Samuel 18:19‭-‬20

Ahithophel got on his donkey and he left Jerusalem. He realized that Absalom had not agreed to his ideas. When he arrived home, he told his family what he needed to tell them. Then he hung himself by his neck. He died and they buried him in his father’s grave. 2 Samuel 17:23

亞希多弗見不依從他的計謀，就備上驢，歸回本城；到了家，留下遺言，便吊死了，葬在他父親的墳墓裏。 撒母耳記下 17:23

Absalom and all Israel’s men said, ‘Hushai’s idea is better than Ahithophel’s.’ (The Lord had decided to make Ahithophel’s idea seem worse than Hushai’s idea. He wanted to cause bad trouble for Absalom.) 2 Samuel 17:14
