On that day, we read the book of Moses to the people. The people listened to what Moses had written in the book. One of the laws said that no descendant of Ammon or Moab should be among the people of God. This was because they had not given the Jews food and water. But they had paid Balaam to ask God to do bad things to the Jews. But God did good things for the Jews instead. When the Jews heard this law, they made all the foreign people leave. Nehemiah 13:1‭-‬3

當日，人念摩西的律法書給百姓聽，遇見書上寫着說，亞捫人和摩押人永不可入上帝的會； 因為他們沒有拿食物和水來迎接以色列人，且雇了巴蘭咒詛他們，但我們的上帝使那咒詛變為祝福。 以色列民聽見這律法，就與一切閒雜人絕交。 尼希米記 13:1‭-‬3

The people chose men to take care of the rooms where they kept the first fruits and tithes. They had to bring the tithes and the first fruits from the fields near the town. They read this in the law. These were for the Levites and priests. The work of the priests and Levites gave pleasure to the people of Judah. ……In the time of Zerubbabel and Nehemiah, all the Jews gave food for the singers and gatekeepers every day. They put on one side what was for the Levites. And the Levites put on one side what was for the priests, the descendants of Aaron. Nehemiah 12:44‭, ‬47

當日，派人管理庫房，將舉祭、初熟之物和所取的十分之一，就是按各城田地，照律法所定歸給祭司和利未人的分，都收在裏頭。猶大人因祭司和利未人供職，就歡樂了。 ……當所羅巴伯和尼希米的時候，以色列眾人將歌唱的、守門的，每日所當得的分供給他們，又給利未人當得的分；利未人又給亞倫的子孫當得的分。 尼希米記 12:44‭, ‬47

The leaders of the Levites were: Hashabiah, Sherebiah, Jeshua son of Kadmiel, and the people who helped them. The people who helped them stood across from them to sing and praise and thank God. The Levites sang first. And then the people who helped them replied. They did this as David, God’s man, had told the Jews. Nehemiah 12:24

利未人的族長是哈沙比雅、示利比、甲篾的兒子耶書亞，與他們弟兄的班次相對，照着神人大衛的命令一班一班地讚美稱謝。 尼希米記 12:24

The leaders of the Jews lived in Jerusalem. The other people threw lots. In that way, they chose which families would live there. From every group of 10 families they chose one family. Then that family would live in Jerusalem, the holy city. The other families could stay in their own towns. The people said that this was good. The families in Jerusalem gave them pleasure. Nehemiah 11:1‭-‬2

百姓的首領住在耶路撒冷。其餘的百姓掣籤，每十人中使一人來住在聖城耶路撒冷，那九人住在別的城邑。 凡甘心樂意住在耶路撒冷的，百姓都為他們祝福。 尼希米記 11:1‭-‬2

We will bring the first dough, fruit, wine and oil and other special offerings to the house of God. The priests will store them in its rooms. We will bring our tithes to the Levites. They will take them from our towns to God’s house. They will store them there. A priest from the family of Aaron will go with the Levites to get the tithes. The Levites will bring a tenth part of the tithes to store in God’s house. Nehemiah 10:37‭-‬38

並將初熟之麥子所磨的麵和舉祭、各樣樹上初熟的果子、新酒與油奉給祭司，收在我們上帝殿的庫房裏，把我們地上所產的十分之一奉給利未人，因利未人在我們一切城邑的土產中當取十分之一。 利未人取十分之一的時候，亞倫的子孫中，當有一個祭司與利未人同在。利未人也當從十分之一中取十分之一，奉到我們上帝殿的屋子裏，收在庫房中。

Our God, you are great and powerful and you keep your promises. You continue to love us. Remember how many troubles we have had. They are not small troubles. Our kings, priests, prophets and our ancestors have all had great troubles. We have had trouble since the time of the kings of Assyria. But in all our troubles, you have always been fair to us. When we did wrong things, you were always fair to us. Nehemiah 9:32‭-‬33

All the Jews met together in the wide place by the Water Gate. The people asked Ezra to bring the Book of the Law of Moses. The laws that the Lord gave to Israel are in the Book of the Law. Nehemiah 8:1

Jerusalem was a large city, but not many people lived in it. We had not yet built many houses. It was not easy to keep the city safe. Then God put an idea in my mind. I called the leaders, the officers and the other people to meet together. I wanted to check the lists of their families. Nehemiah 7:4‭-‬5

城是廣大，其中的民卻稀少，房屋還沒有建造。 我的上帝感動我心，招聚貴冑、官長，和百姓，要照家譜計算。 尼希米記 7:4‭-‬5

We finished the city’s wall on the 25th day of the month Elul. It had taken 52 days to build the wall again. When our enemies heard this news, they were afraid. The people of all the nations who lived near Jerusalem were very afraid. They knew that our God had helped us to finish this great work. Nehemiah 6:15‭-‬16

以祿月二十五日，城牆修完了，共修了五十二天。 我們一切仇敵、四圍的外邦人聽見了便懼怕，愁眉不展；因為見這工作完成是出乎我們的上帝。 尼希米記 6:15‭-‬16
