David replied, ‘No, my brothers. You cannot do that. The Lord has given all this to us. The Lord kept us safe. He helped us to win the fight. Nobody will agree with what you say. Each person will receive an equal part. Some men stayed with the tents. Some men were in the fight. But each person will receive the same amount.’ David made this rule into a law. The Israelites have obeyed this law ever since that day. 1 Samuel 30:23-25
