At that time, Hezekiah was very ill. He nearly died. Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, went to Hezekiah. And Isaiah said to Hezekiah, ‘This is what the Lord says. “Make everything ready for your son, because you will die. You will not get well again.” ’ Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and he prayed to the Lord. And he said, ‘Remember, Lord, that I have been your good servant. I have always loved you very much. You have seen that I always did good things.’ And Hezekiah wept very much. Then the Lord told Isaiah again what to say. This happened before he left the middle of the king’s house. ‘Go back! Say to Hezekiah, the leader of my people, “This is what the Lord says. The Lord is the God of your ancestor David. I have heard what you prayed. I have seen that you have cried. I will make you well again. On the third day from now you will go to the house of the Lord. I will let you live for 15 more years. I will save you and this city from the power of the king of Assyria. Also, I will keep this city safe, because of my servant David.” ’ 2 Kings 20:1-6
